SAHMAT:- Safdar Hashmi Memorial Trust
The full form of SAHMAT stands for Safdar Hashmi Memorial Trust. The Safdar Hashmi Memorial Trust is an organization on the memorial of Safdar Hashmi. Safdar Hashmi, a communist playwright, and director, best known for his work with street theater in India. He was born on 12th April in the year 1954 and expired on 2nd January 1989. He was also a lyricist, theorist, and actor, and he is still considered an important voice in Indian political theater. And as it is said legends never die, they still keep on living in our hearts and on those places which they lit up by their talents. So as the people never wanted Safdar Hashmi to fade away, they came up with and created the Safdar Hashmi Memorial Trust. The Safdar Hashmi Memorial Trust organized a series of four lectures by the eminent economist Professor C. P. Chandrasekhar to commemorate 150 years of the Publication of Volume 1 of Karl Marn’s seminal work, capital at India Habitat Centre.
